AHIRU Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, Representative Director: Tahiru Arai, hereinafter referred to as AHIRU) is pleased to announce that its domestically developed game engine "OROCHI5" has been selected for the "Content Overseas Expansion Promotion Infrastructure Strengthening Project (IP360)" promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Following this selection, AHIRU will officially launch its "OROCHI 5" public open project. Accordingly, the usage licenses for "OROCHI 5," which previously required individual contracts, will be widely opened up both domestically and internationally, creating an environment where creators around the world can freely download and use it for development, regardless of national borders or prior contractual procedures.
By transforming "OROCHI 5," which is packed with Japan's excellent development know-how, into a world-class open infrastructure, we will not only support domestic creators' overseas expansion, but also strongly support joint development with excellent overseas developers and the creation of global titles that utilize Japanese IP (intellectual property).
[Background of Selection and the Aim of Open to the public "OROCHI 5"]
Currently, the global game development market is dominated by development using overseas-made game engines. Maintaining unique know-how in Japanese development environments and developing a development environment that can quickly respond to the global market are common challenges.
"OROCHI 5" is a domestically produced game engine optimized for Japanese game development, boasting advanced optimization for various consumer game consoles and a proven track record of strong integration with third-party middleware such as "SPARK GEAR" and "CRI Middleware."
By providing this technology as an "open development environment usable worldwide without contracts," we will create the following value:
Immediate access to the global market and accelerated development speed: By eliminating the need for commercial contracts and multilingual communication, we provide an environment where indie game creators and small and medium-sized developers both domestically and internationally can "start developing as soon as they get an idea."
Formation of a global technical community: We will expand multilingual documentation and support environments to create an environment where overseas creators can choose "OROCHI5" as their standard tool. This will promote open innovation that fuses knowledge from both domestic and international sources.
Applications in educational institutions and non-gaming fields: It can be smoothly introduced to universities and vocational schools both domestically and internationally, as well as to cutting-edge technology research sites in industries other than gaming.
[Comment from the representative]
We are deeply honored that our game, OROCHI 5, has been selected for the IP360 project, which aims to connect the future of Japanese content to the world. For game creators, the game engine is a lifeline for succeeding in global competition. By opening up our engine to the public, we will remove the barriers of contracts and national borders, contributing to a future where amazing Japanese creativity will lead to the creation of a continuous stream of titles that will astound the world.
